Think about the last gig you went to.  How did you hear about it?  Was it through an annoying ad on the radio or poster on the street or was it because a friend told you about it?  Our research suggests that 80% of gig goers find out about events through a friend.  So that means you the people are in fact doing the advertising – so why aren’t the music promoters paying you!

 

Posse has partnered with top music artists who are keen to reward their fans for all their hard work.   The people in charge of promoting shows for these acts have set aside some of the money that they would normally spend on advertising and are giving it to you instead.

 

Posse is free to use, we offer shows in the US, UK and Australia and anyone aged 14 and over can set up an account.

 

How it works:

1. Sign-up to Posse for free

2. Go to the ‘Browse’ section, find an event that your friends might want to go to and select ‘Promote Tickets’.

3. Now go to ‘Manage My Store’ and select ‘Advertise gig’.

4. You can grab the unique link here and email or Twitter it to your friends.  This link will take them directly to the official ticket retailer (such as Ticketmaster). 

We’ve found the most effective way to promote gigs is through MySpace or Facebook via the Apps which can be downloaded at ‘My Tools’.

Every time someone clicks through your ad or link and buys a ticket, you'll earn a commission. Your commissions are payable 14 days after the event has taken place. Once you reach $5 in commissions, you can choose to be paid into your Pay Pal account.

 

In some cases artists will also offer prizes for the top seller on a tour or to the top seller for each gig.   See specific event details for information.

What's a Posse Agent?

A Posse agent is a fan who collects commission for the simple activity of promoting gigs to their friends and colleagues. Each agent creates their own store at Posse.com and users can browse their store for all the upcoming gigs.  The best way to use Posse is to grab advertising material, links or social media apps and encourage your friends to click through your ads to get their tickets.

 

How do I promote events on Posse?

As soon as you’ve signed up to Posse you should hit the ‘Browse’ button and choose events to promote.  Once you’ve selected an event the button will change to ‘already selling’.  You then need to go to ‘Manage My Store’ and hit ‘Advertise gig’.  This will take you to a page where you can use Twitter, email, MySpace or Facebook to promote the event or you can download exclusive banners to add to your blog, MySpace, email signature or website.  When your friends click through your app, link or ad they will go straight into the official ticket retailer for this event to buy a ticket.

 

How do you know that the link came from my ad or app?

The links, ads and app links you get from the advertising page on Posse are unique to YOU.  If someone clicks through your link, ad or app and buys a ticket then Posse can tell it’s come from you and you get paid a commission.

 

How do I make money?

Every time someone clicks through your ad, app or link and purchases a ticket then you get paid the listed commission.  These commissions accumulate in your Posse account and once you’ve reached $5 then you can select to get paid into PayPal.   Please note that commissions are payable 14 days after the event has taken place.

 

How do I know that my friends are buying real tickets?

Posse is not a ticket retailer.  We’ve partnered with all major ticketing platforms in the US, UK and Australia and these companies handle the payment and delivery of your friend’s tickets.  Your Posse links go directly to the event on Ticketmaster, Ticketweb or Live Nation in the US, See Tickets or Ticketmaster in the UK and Moshtix and Ticketmaster in Australia.

 

Are my friends paying more to buy tickets through my Posse links?

No.  The ticket cost at the ticketing site is exactly the same whether your friend comes through your link or if they go to the ticketing site directly.   So they pay the same as they would anyway and you make a commission!

 

Do I ever need to pay anything to be a Posse Agent?

No.  Posse does not sell anything and you cannot ever use your Posse account to spend money.  You can only earn money!

If you live in the US, UK or Australia and you're 14 years or older, you can become a Posse Agent. If you're under the age of 14, or some other species like a rabbit, then you cannot become a Posse Agent.  A note to our youngsters: If you're under 15, make sure you have parental consent to set up a store here at Posse and if you're under 18, then you'll need to collaborate with someone 18 or over to setup a PayPal account so you can get paid.

 

What are some tips for sharing the love and making money with Posse?

First tip is that the best gigs to promote are for bands that you personally like. If you pester them about bands they know you hate, they'll see through you like you're Hayley Joel Osment in Sixth Sense.

We’ve found the most effective way to promote on Posse is either through installing the social media apps on Facebok or MySpace or grabbing a unique link from the ‘Advertise gig’ page and emailing or Twittering that link to your friends.  We also encourage you to make your own fan page on MySpace or via a blog and then you can promote your address as the Ticket Box Office for your favorite shows!
